The 100 Months project, which includes
the MyMonth website, was established in 2008 by Allan Fyfe of
Lethenty Mill, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. The project, which aims to
raise awareness about global warming and encourage positive action,
is non-profit making. Allan founded the project in January 2008 as a
result of his growing concerns about climate change.
As the site progresses, Allan intends
to share his experiences of how he is trying to make his own
day-to-day life more environmentally friendly. He also hopes
to encourage others to share their efforts, by using the forum and
picture gallery.
The 100 Months project gained its name following the United Nations Climate
Change Conference held in Bali; 10,000 people were present and the
world’s largest nations were represented. At the conference,
scientists warned that it is now agreed that mankind is experiencing
accelerating climate change and that we are causing it. It is widely
felt that we have a 100 month period within which we can control
global warming to within two degrees.
The conference agreed to adopt the “Bali Roadmap”
– “a negotiating process which will lead to a post 2012
international agreement on climate change”.
Some decisions were also made but;
100 months is just over eight years from now
2012 is four years away…
