Tips & Hints
Here are just a few small things you can do today to help save
tomorrow’s world:
Yes, it gets chilly in the evening. Instead of turning up the
central heating, dig out your favourite jumper or fleece and turn
the thermostat down instead.
More is less. Well, it is when it comes to dishwashers and washing
machines. By making sure you have a full load each time, you can
save energy – and money.
Take your recycling efforts to a new level. Even old computers
can be recycled nowadays. Check out
www.computer-aid.org or
www.tfs.oprg.uk for more information.
Make yourself a cuppa…but only with the right amount of water. If we
all filled our kettles with just the amount of water needed, we
could save enough electricity to power all the street lights in the
country.
Get wound up. Or rather, wind your mobile phone up. More clever
research suggests that if every mobile owner in the UK charged their
handset with a wind-up charger, the energy savings would be
sufficient to power 66,000 homes over the next ten years.
Don’t waste water. Always try to remember to put a plug in the basin
or sink. And, please, please, please, don’t leave the tap running
while you are brushing your teeth.
